Peter Revers studied musicology, psychology and philosophy at the Universities in Salzburg and Vienna and composition at “Mozarteum” in Salzburg (PhD 1980, artist diploma 1981). From 1981 – 1996 he taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Universities of Salzburg and Hamburg, and was fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation in 1988/89. He completed his habilitation in 1993 (University of Hamburg). Since 1996 he has been full professor of music history at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and served as president of the Austrian Musicological Society from 2001 – 2009. His fields of research are music history from 18th – 21st centuries, the reception of Far Eastern music in Europe, and the history of musical interpretation.
